Nothingin particular is wrong with the Ford-era Volvos. For example, the P1 cars (C30/V50/2nd-gen S40) that share some design elements with the Focus and Mazda 3 are much better than the 1st-gen S40 and V40 (the Mitsubishi Carisma collaboration). Most of the Ford stuff was in the Volvo->Ford direction. HiVolvo lovers! I'm in the market for a used car and am pretty interested in the P1 platform but I'm worried that I won't find them anywhere near as fun to drive as my current DD, a Toyota Celica. Having said that I'm in love with Volvo's 5 cylinder engine! It has such a unique sound and is packaged very nicely in the engine bay.
