I ended my first new game with shura ending so for me i've noticed that ng+ is harder. Probably because i missed some attack ups and beads in my first run. Things take way longer to die and i get 1 shotted by almost every boss lol. If you do a completionist run the first go around it will probably be easier. 15.

NG+ is only a little more difficult if you had majority of the upgrades from your first playthrough. I'd certainly recommend doing NG+ after you've got majority of the upgrades from normal game. Sorry for the tower of text! TL:DR - If you did Shura ending, don't go to NG+ to do the other endings, just start a new normal game and go NG+ from there.

It should. I just tried this myself (on PC). You can only begin a new playthrough from the Dilapidated Temple idol. When I next used homeward idol, it took me to the start position at the bottom of the reservoir. After reaching the Moonview tower and speaking to Kuro, the next time I used it would take me back there instead.
