In usual case (when manual doesn’t have other explicit instructions) slots must be filled in following order. First slot of first channel (A1 in example) First slot of second channel (B1) How to correctly install computer memory. The memory modules are installed into matching banks, which are usually color-coded on the motherboard.

Substantial-Ad-2644. Definetly go for 2x 16gb , its said that are working better but even if not u have future upgrade path for 64gb plus 2x 16tb are cheaper than 4 x8gb when u get the bundle. Rams to look into : Gskill trindenz neo ( neo better than rgb version ) Crucial ballistix ( best price for amazong quality )
If your motherboard has 4 slots, buy a 4x 8GB kit, or buy a 2x 8GB kit and place its modules in slots: #2 and #4 (leave slots #1 and #3 empty). This way you’ll run memory safely in dual-channel mode (though there are 4 slots, there are only 2 memory channels). Using slot 2 and 4 is dependent upon the motherboard.

If the ram you’re looking at isn’t on the QVL four sticks has a much higher likelihood of having a compatibility issue compared to two sticks. IE two sticks are easier for a mobo to sync than four sticks. Otherwise performance difference btw two and four sticks is pretty negligible. Mostly comes down to how much you want to spend now vs
The two sticks almost always are filled the same way, so if you are using 8GB of RAM, both sticks are holding 4GB, and if you are video editing with 20 chrome tabs open and use 16GB of RAM, both sticks are holding 8GB (probably each half of your footage and 10 chrome tabs).
