She got the car yesterday. Today on two different occasions while she was at a stop, the auto stop/start feature turned the car off completely and displayed a message “Please start engine manually”. Forcing her to have to put the car in park and push the start engine button.
Stop-start systems are designed to save fuel and reduce emissions, but they can also wear out the engine bearings and cause oil leaks. The web page explains how stop-start works, how it affects engine life, and what steps can be taken to prolong its durability.
Stop/start is here to stay, and frankly it's not very intrusive, and ultimately it's probably a financial wash while marginally improving the planet. It's the same reason 2.7L Ecos are killing the V8 (see the news that the V8 plant is cutting a shift), it's just better technology. Engine Misfire. Since ignition coils play a role in igniting the engine’s air-fuel mixture, a faulty coil can easily cause a misfire. A misfire happens when there’s incomplete combustion (or zero combustion) inside one or more of the engine’s cylinders. The phenomenon will feel like a hesitation or shaking when the car is running. You may The case was dismissed when a judge ruled Audi's owner's manuals clearly say the Start-Stop system "may turn off the engine before the car comes to a complete stop." Case Filed July 2020. The lawsuit wanted refunds for the purchase price of the vehicles for class members, plus compensation for overpaying and for loss of values. Class Vehicles
Next check for ground at the starter relay control. The relay should only get ground from the PCM when the ignition switch is in the START position. If you find ground in the RUN position, check the ignition switch wiring for your year, model/engine the START wire is NOT hot while the switch is in the RUN position.
Engine Won’t Start. A bad ignition switch won’t be able to supply power to the starter motor, ignition system, and other engine controls, preventing the engine from starting. Keep in mind, however, that engine issues may also be caused by other electrical and mechanical problems, such as a dead battery or a faulty starter solenoid. To be
An engine immobilizer system (or car immobilizer) is a great piece of electronic security technology which is basically a vehicle theft deterrent. Its purpose is to prevent a vehicle from being hot-wired and stolen by a thief who doesn’t have a key to start the engine. Research studies have proven there are 40% fewer car thefts since
How Does Auto Stop-Start Work? Auto stop-start systems can work differently depending on a vehicle’s make and model. For many vehicles with automatic transmissions, the stop-start system turns off the engine when the vehicle grinds to a halt and the driver’s foot remains on the brake pedal. The system restarts the engine when the driver
